DIY Wedding
Here are a few projects that i have started while getting ready for my own wedding.
I chose to go with a vintage feeling for the whole wedding theme using soft pink and white with silver highlights.
Up to now planning has been fun and; this is what i have been up to:
Stefana:
So in the Orthodox Church, when a couple gets married there is a part of the ceremony where the priest places a α "crown"on each of the couples head which are attached with a ribbon. During the ceremony the priest alternates the crowns from the brides head to the grooms and from the grooms head to the brides symbolizing the shearing amongst the couple. Then the couple walk around the alter 3 times Which signify their first steps as a wed couple.
Anyway the crowns used for the ceremony are called stefana. In the old days they were made from branches of olive trees. Today you can buy them made out of silver or gold at the jewelers or from the bridal boutiques where u can find them in all diffident styles and made from various materials . Prices range from 100- 300 euro. :o outrageous I know!
So i decided to make my own and this is what they look like:
My second project are the Flower-girl baskets which will be filled on the day with rose petals and rise to throw at the newly wed couple ;)
I found these baskets at a local toy store called Jumbo and decorated it with two flowers on each side made out of organza material. I then used the left over ribbon from the stefana to outline the handle and the border of the basket. I have made 5 of these, one for each Flower girl.

Wedding Hair Style - Options
Ok, so today i am having a first meeting with my
hair stylist to show him a few ideas i have for my wedding day. I have
two basic favorites.
1. Would be taking my hair to the side in loose curls and maybe having a hair jewel or flower in it.
2. would be having it loose and long with a few natural curls and then add a head piece (like a head band)
Also i am planing on wearing a long veil in the church but taking it off at the reception.
I am also thinking of having some hair extensions put in for a little more body and length.
Here are a few of my fave hairstyles i have come across on line.

Wedding Dress - Finding the One!
I must say, finding the perfect dress can be a lot of fun but also seems to get the bride very confused!
Going gown shopping is probably the most exiting part of preparing for a wedding!!!
lace of my wedding dress
My
first try on was about 5 months ago. Me and a friend Maria were driving
around town on a Saturday when all of a sudden i see a large SALE sign
on the window of this bridal gown store.
My friend and i decided to pop in even though i was planning on waiting a few months longer before starting to look for my dress.
We quickly paged through the dresses the same way i usually page through a magazine taking a quick note of the pictures (dresses) i liked the most.
I must say the dresses were pretty but not quite the dress that WOWED me!
I decided to book an appointment to try on a few dresses while they were still within the sale period.
A few days latter i picked my mother and big sister up and the three of us went to the bridal store.
When we got there the lady at the store Ms. Christala was very welcoming and sweet. She let us look through the dresses and pull out the ones we thought had most potential.
I pulled out a white simple flowy gown,
My mother pulled out a couple of princess ball gowns while my sister paged through the dresses amazed!
Ms. Christala also pulled out a gown for me to try on. As she held the dress by the hanger, i must admit that i was not blown away. But i was exited to try on as many dresses as possible so i started off with Ms. Christalas selection...
As soon as i popped my head out of the dress and took a first glance of my self in the mirror, i was enchanted by the breathtaking gown made from lace.
It shimmered and sparkled in a subtle way that made me feel like a bride should feel straight away.
I knew at that moment that that was my dress!!!
My mother and sister also seemed exited and had a pinned smile that would not wipe off their faces.
Yes, i did continue to try on the other gowns we pulled out but by mind was made and i had fallen in love with the first dress.
A week latter i went by the store and handed a deposit for the dress i fell in love with.
During these months i must admit that i still look through pictures of wedding gowns to make sure i am making the right choice.
I have even fallen in to the temptation of showing a picture of my dress to a few friends to get their opinion. I must say that some have said they love it and others not so much.
This got me a bit nervous and made me second guess my self.
So i booked an appointment to go try on a few more dressed at a few other bridal stores.
And even though i did find a second dress which i think that my sister and mother like even more then the original dress i liked... my mind still keeps on going back to that first dress.
So, i have decided that i am going to get the dress that i originally fell in love with. The one that makes me exited for the wedding day when i think about it.
Here's a tip for the brides to be that are looking for their dress... When you find that one dress that makes you feel extra special, do not let other peoples opinion change your mind, Listen to your heart and Follow your gut Instinct.
You get one chance to be a bride and you should wear what ever makes you happy!

Favorite celebrity wedding style - Kim Kardashian
Kim Kardashian was a vision on her wedding day.
Going for the elegant classic bride style and a traditional white gown.
Her make up was of natural tones which gave her that bridal glow, her hair was taking up in an elegant up-due with a jewel detail on her forehead.
Not a lot brides have the guts to dress their brides maids in white, but Kim had a totally white wedding including her bouquet and her bridesmaid dresses.

Keep the Buterflies flying...
I do not consider myself the best person to give relationship advice... although I have read many times that it is important to share fun experiences with the person you love in order to keep the butterflies flying.
Last week I took part in a couples photo shoot with the man I adore and it was two of the most fun and romantic hours I have spent with my other half. A chance to engage in the moment, stare in each others eyes and laugh out loud. The best part of all is that you get to keep pictures that capture every moment.
Our photographers were great fun to work with and helped us feel at ease with the camera.
I recommend every couple to share an experience like this and not wait only for a special occasion to take a snap shot. Love is special on its own and worth celebrating at any chance given.
Here are a few shots of our photo shoot.
If you like the pictures and would like to share a similar experience with the one you love; Check out the website of our fabulous photographer at Christodoulou Photography.

Wedding Veil
Traditionally, veils are used to symbolize virginity and modesty;
in this case the veil is usually worn to cover the head and face of the bride
as a symbol of her virginity. When at the end of the ceremony the veil gets
lifted by the bride’s father or groom.
Nowadays in the case where the bride is not a virgin but
still would like to wear a veil on her wedding day... The bride enters the ceremony
with the veil not covering her face and the unveiling part of the ceremony is omitted.
As a religious item, the veil is used to show honor to the
object it covers.
Nevertheless, informally speaking, there is always a scent
of mystery to a veiled bride. The beautiful woman behind the veil…
